About Ralph
Ralph is an expert in exam preparation and content mastery. With a first-class master’s in Mathematics from Durham university and more than 7 years of tutoring experience, he has guided countless students to A* success in their A-level maths exams.
Unlike most A-level teachers, Ralph has taught mathematics at the undergraduate level — where he was employed by Durham to run tutorials in calculus and linear algebra.
His thesis topic was on optimal control theory which has vast applications across the sciences and engineering, a field that he remains interested in to date.
Methodology
Ralph’s teaching methodology relies on getting to the ‘why’ behind the content. Too frequently in maths courses, students are taught to rote learn methods and formulas without fully understanding their purpose. This is often due to generic teaching plans, large classes and lack of passion from the teachers themselves.
This approach leaves gaps in a student’s knowledge that later become hurdles when trying to tackle unseen content or tricky exam questions. In your sessions with Ralph, you will focus on uncovering the mystery behind some of the most poorly understood topics, such as Hypothesis testing, Differential modelling, Variable acceleration, and many more.
